Description
The NEOSSat is a 74 kg SmallSat with an envelope of 137 x 78 x 38 cm designed for orbit altitudes between 630 to 830 km. The attitude control system is can achieve less than 1 arcsec pointing error using a star tracker, Sun sensor, magnetometer, reaction wheels and magnetic torque rods. The power system generates upwards of 45 watts orbit-average power, using triple junction, gallium arsenide solar arrays on all 6 sides, lithium-ion batteries. A single Aitech S921 command and data handling computer is used for housekeeping, attitude control, and science data processing operations. Two 80 MHz DSPs are allocated for CCD image read-out and science data processing. The platform is equipped with an S-band that is capable of delivering 4 kbps uplink and 2 Mbps downlink.
