The Eagle-2 spacecraft is Northrop Grumman’s highly versatile, mid-size spacecraft that serves as a reliable standard for a vast number of mission applications.
The Eagle-2 bus has a redundant architecture, accurate pointing, and substantial payload capacity to provide a high degree of mission capability. By meeting customer needs across a large number of missions and sharing core design elements with other spacecraft in the Eagle product line, the Eagle-2 spacecraft achieves economies of scale that result in cost savings to customers. An Eagle testbed is available for payload testing.
The Eagle-2 spacecraft shares much in common with the Eagle-S spacecraft, but with increased redundancy, pointing and payload capacity. The design is optimized for the Minotaur-IV and Taurus 3210 launch vehicles, and also may be launched on the Delta II, Antares, Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy or Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV).
For cases in which mission requirements are beyond the already highly-capable Eagle-2 basic configuration, the spacecraft is designed to readily accommodate several pre-planned options for increased capability without disrupting the standard architecture. These options include increased data storage, higher data downlink rates, enhanced pointing and navigation, and GEO and deep space options with significantly higher delta-V.
