Overview

The dual string three-axis magnetometer was designed specifically for small satellites requiring low cost and SWaP (Size, Weight and Power). The mag features a dual-string three-axis magnetometer used for attitude control by the satellite Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS). The mag provides high probability of success in Lower Earth Orbit (LEO) missions of 6.5 years. The size is less than 20 in^3 with weight less than 0.69 lbs. Angular accuracy is better than 3.4 degrees. The Input/Output is CAN or RS-424. Input power is 5Vdc.


Using a similar approach to our rate sensors for the small satellite market, Honeywell is developing a market-leading, low cost magnetometer for small satellites. Providing choice of standard RS-424 or CANBUS interface provides full system flexibility.
